Solo But Not Alone
Early in 2021 several game designers on itch.io released the "Solo But Not Alone" bundle, a collection of 26 single-player RPGs. It made perfect sense to grab this at the time, since I wasn't seeing my gaming group... or any other people much. In 2022 I aim to try and play every single game in the bundle at least once.
Game #1: The Page I Didn't Write
This is a super short game you can complete in about 15 minutes or so, depending on how florid your prose is. You create a backstory involving another person, and make a list of six things you want to tell them. You then write a letter with those things, using dice rolls to determine if you say it the way you meant to say it. You then destroy that better, rewrite, and roll to see if you send the second letter. If you don't send, you're supposed to tear up the second letter as well.
The best part of this game is the brevity. Otherwise I find it didn't really provide enough guidance as to how much each item on the list was supposed to be altered. It's really just a freeform writing exercise, good for when you just want to hammer out some prose but don't really have an idea how to start.
